At this stage I am going to mention a few items that I think are important and need an explanation (will publish a detailed list as the trip moves along):
1.
Tent:
Second biggest decision after the
vehicle was the tent – luckily over the years I have spent a considerable
amount of time in tents in all types of terrain and at times extremely harsh
conditions. My criteria were:
·
Space and quality – needed a tent I could stand
up in and be able to spend time in (in case of bad weather, etc)
·
As most my camping will be with SUV in tow –
purchased one that is customized to a SUV - Napier Sportz 84000 SUV tent. Now
this tent is heavy but that’s not a worry as I have the SUV to carry it but its
VERY comfortable and one can spend considerable amount of time in it.
·
And it hooks up to the SUV allowing me easy
access to the vehicle for comfort and safety
·
As for sleeping bag – picked a MEC synthetic
mummy (works great even when wet) rated for -7 C – should be fine for spring
time in Patagonia
A note on equipment – like to thank Shawna for contributing important
essentials like travel guides, bty changer, reading light, etc . Marcelo for
his contribution of ‘jumper cables’!?
